Probably the single most extensive source of shareware on the internet; but
with limited descriptions and no ratings. You have to know what you're looking
for, but if it exists, it's probably here somewhare.
Garbo Once one of
the premiere software repositories, Garbo, at the University of Vaasa in
Finland, now concentrates more on MS-DOS applications,with smaller and less
current Windows collections.
TUCOWS
The Ultimate Collection of Windows Software provides extensive multi-line
descriptions including ratings, and includes links to the author's homepages
and a search engine.
Stroud's Consummate
Winsock Applications List also provides details on each application
including a one-line description and links to the application's
homepage.
Windows95 A
collection devoted exclusively to Win95; graphics intensive and so
a little slow and not as easy to navigate, but has multi-line descriptions.
ZDNet UK
Not as easy to navigate, but provides the best descriptions of any repository
and includes ratings.
Jumbo seems to have
gone primarily commercial; not as easy to navigate, and little in the way of
descriptions.
Site
& Version FAQ A list of graphics and virus utilities, with a sound
FAQ in the works.
Shareware Search
A search engine from c/net; a modern archie. Provides links to documentation
and exhaustive lists of ftp sites.
Microsoft A starting point for a sometimes slow site
with cryptic filenames. If you need their stuff, here it is.
Virus A list of links to virus FAQs and anti-virus
software.
Easter
Eggs Software surprises, or training ground for software bombers?
Supposed to be moving to www.eeggs.com, but that didn't work on 1 Aug 97.
INet
Status A somewhat slow site that displays graphic maps of internet
delays.
Win95
Annoyances If you can't get Windows 95 to do what you want, despite
following MS instructions to the letter, you might want to try this site.
